Philips Electronics recently announced the opening of its OLED Lumiblade Creative Lab in Aachen, Germany. The creative lab aims to bring together professionals from a wide range of creative backgrounds in order to unlock the potential of Organic LED (OLED) technology. The Lumiblade Creative Lab enables luminaire manufacturers, creatives, designers and other partners in the lighting industry to become more familiar with OLED technology and to apply it easily in their projects.
Philips Lumiblade Creative Lab consists of a gallery space, conference and office rooms, a lounge area and material library as well as two big workshop spaces. It is staffed by a group of experts in electronic drivers, material integration and design-in and is a partner in innovation, actively working with leading "creative" people to co-create new lighting solutions. Kristin Knappstein, Head of Business Creation OLED, Philips, said, "Philips Lumiblade Creative Lab is not an abstract concept but a real workshop where experts in the fields of lighting, electronics and materials are on hand to advise partners and designers on how to integrate OLED and add a new dimension to their projects. The Creative Lab team offers advice and guidance as well as practical support, helping to progress projects beyond the design stage into a prototype or small-scale production."
